Important changes to WOODRISE 2021 KYOTO

Although we are continuing to prepare for WOODRISE 2021 KYOTO to be held from October 15, as of September 17, 2021, due to COVID-19, state-of-emergency measures remain in place in Kyoto Prefecture, and the government continues to urge people to avoid moving between prefectures whenever possible. After careful consideration of these circumstances, we have decided to make the following changes to the event.

The event, provisionally announced as “WOODRISE 2021+1,” is now going to be held in late May, 2022 in Tokyo, as “WOODRISE 2021 BUSINESS SESSION” to provide an opportunity to exchange opinions and network with many Japanese and overseas companies that are involved in medium- and high-rise wooden buildings, including participants from overseas who wish to attend the conference in Kyoto in October but are unable to come to Japan due to COVID-19. We are considering the inclusion of seminars and BtoB meetings, as well as social events, such as a gala dinner and technical tours, which were postponed from WOODRISE 2021 KYOTO agenda. Details will be announced on our website once confirmed.

1. Changes to the program

  • The welcome lounge and gala dinner, both of which would have included food and drink, will be postponed until WOODRISE 2021 BUSINESS SESSION.
  • Technical tours involving travel with large numbers of people will be postponed until WOODRISE 2021 BUSINESS SESSION.
  • Entry to the exhibition may be limited, depending on the situation. The contents of the exhibition will be posted online at a later date for those unable to attend.
  • Previously, there was no plan to live-stream the Commemorative Speech (“The Age of Wood” by Kengo Kuma) or Special Sessions (“The Promotion of Wooden Architecture and the SDGs” and “The Housing Market of Asia and Oceania”) to non-registered participants. Now, these will be available to all participants, including non-registered.
  • Sponsored sessions will be available on demand.

2. Changes to the conditions for admission

  • Conferences at the Kyoto International Conference Center have previously been held in a hybrid manner (both in-person and online). In-person participants (including non-registered participants and speakers) must have had their second vaccination at least 2 weeks prior to the conference or have had a negative PCR test result.

Note 1: You will be asked to fill out a health-check sheet at the entrance of the Kyoto International Conference Center.

Note 2: If you are an in-person participant (pre-registered) and wish to have a PCR test, the conference secretariat will send you a PCR test kit. The kit asks you to provide a saliva sample in a tube that will be provided, and mail it using the enclosed package. You will receive the result by email within 24 hours after your sample arrives at the laboratory. We will cover the cost of the kit and shipping. If you wish to be tested, please submit the request form, below.
